Backyard camping

The beginning of summer Joe and I sat down and made a list of all the things we wanted to do as a family. Backyard camping was one of the things Joe wanted to do with Joseph. Lets just say it was a big hit. Joseph had so much fun and it did not cost a penny. Joseph was introduced to catching lighting bugs. Thank you so much Joe for being such a great dad to our boys.

New bike!!

Over the weekend we finally got Joseph a new bike. He does really well on the bike, and he needs a little more practise on steering and braking. But I will say for the first time on a bike he did really well.

Proud of his new bike

Soccer video

Here is a video of Joseph's last soccer game. He truly was the star of the game. In the short video he does not score a goal, but you can see him dribbling the ball and kicking the ball.

Mammoth Caves

I got the description off the Mammoth Cave National Park website. The tour we took was the Historic Tour.

Entering the cave through the Historic Entrance, you will feel the excitement that intrigued the earliest explorers and visitors. Experience the history and the role Mammoth Cave played during the War of 1812. Large passages invite you to imagine what it would have been like for prehistoric discoverers who walked these passages more than 2,000 years ago. Descend into the lower levels of the cave and follow in the footsteps of the first explorers who crossed the Bottomless Pit. Squeeze through Fat Man’s Misery. Climb 155 stairs up Mammoth Dome and exit through the Historic Entrance. •2 hours, 2 miles. Tour limit: 120. Total stairs: 440, including 155 at Mammoth Dome. Elevation change: 300’. •Limited areas of the Mammoth Cave Discovery, Mammoth Passage, Star Chamber, River Styx and Violet City Lantern Tours are visited on this route. •Meets at the Visitor Center. Difficulty: Moderate.

It is pretty funny story because we thought we were taking a 45 minute tour because you see we had to carry Levi. Levi is a pretty heavy 13 month old. Some mistake him for being 18 months. We met up with our group and our guide was explaining the tour and all I hear is 2 hours long. I look at Joe and told him there is no way we can carry Levi that long. But Joe, the never giving up person he is, encouraged me that we could do it. Well the only thing that saved us is that it was 50 degrees down there. Here are some pictures!!

Camping trip 2011

Call us crazy or adventurous but we took the boys camping at Jelly Stone Park in Kentucky. This time we stayed in a cabin which was really nice. The boys loved camping. There was a playground close to our cabin that we were at most of the time. There was also a pool and a water slide. Joseph loved the water slide!!

Joseph loves to fish.

Concentrating really hard

Levi is getting braver and braver at the playground.

My boys in front of our cabin.

Brave little boy that loves to scare mommy.

Come on boys look at mommy.

While Levi was napping Joe took Joseph to the dinosaur world.

Look how big the dinosaur is!!

Probably Joseph's favorite the water slide. He went down all by himself.

Breakfast with Yogi. (Levi was way to busy eating to get his picture taken)

Watching Yogi with Yogi

The weekend we were there it was pirate themed. Here is Joseph walking the plank.

Levi was not that big of a fan of swimming. He loved it for the first 10 mins and then he was done.

What a great experience with our family. I love that we take family vacations because so many do not. And the memories will last a long time. Next up the Mammoth caves stay tune.
